City Draw with Hannakins

Date – 23rd October 2011

Chelmsford City   1

Hannakins Farm   1

Hannakins Farm looked a big strong team with height advantage all over the pitch. With City’s keeper injured with a broken shoulder and another player out, the Clarets had to dig in today with only 7 players available. Chelmsford started the brighter with Billy Hack and Taylor Stockton pressing the ball. Luke Ellul was making himself busy as usual with those terrier like tackles in midfield. Hannakins started to get some rhythm and play the ball around the City players and creating one or two chances. Max Norton at the back was going to have a busy afternoon with the HF striker making some clever runs. The first goal came from HF with a pass from the back along the right midfield and a neat pass inside beating the stand in City keeper Jakey Morgan.

HF continued to press looking for the second goal and winning all the loose balls. A couple of chances did fall to Adam Saunders and Kyran Rees but the ball was not hitting the right place.

Second half City picked it up and took the game to HF with near misses from Morgan and Stockton. City’s equalising goal came from a corner, the ball bounced around the area and Hack poked the ball between the keeper’s legs, 1-1. Clarets did have the opportunity to finish the game off with shots going wide and passes almost connecting. HF also had a good couple of efforts saved by Rees in goal but this game was going to end as a draw.    A game city struggled to get a grip of but well done to HF.
