As City’s men toil for FA Cup glory, the Clarets’ Ladies are similarly excited with their own prospects as they take on Hethersett Athletic in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Women’s Cup this Sunday, kick-off 2:00pm at Melbourne Stadium.
City’s female First Team will make history at the weekend when they appear at the venue for the first ever time and they’re hoping for a bumper crowd to turn out and support them, with admission to the game being free of charge. This landmark event sees the ladies out to impress and gain new supporters while they attempt to overcome the Eastern Region Premier Division side, who sit one step above the Clarets.
Chelmsford won their last qualifier 8-0 against Wymondham Town and local businesses also have the opportunity to get involved by sponsoring a page in the official matchday programme for just £20. First Team Coach, Sharon Brownlie, is helping to prepare for the day and she can’t wait for her team to play in front of a new audience.
She said: “We’re delighted to be able to play this fixture at Melbourne Stadium and want to thank our Club Secretary, Dawn Barnard, and Club Chairman Mansell Wallace, for making this happen. We extend a very warm invite to all Clarets to come along for what we hope will be an entertaining afternoon of football.”
Meanwhile, City’s Under 18s know a place in the First Round Proper of the FA Youth Cup is at stake when they face Tilbury at Melbourne Stadium this Wednesday (19th October) at 7:30pm. The Clarets’ next generation have already overcome Southend Manor (3-0) and Hemel Hempstead Town (2-1), both at home, and admission on the night is just £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
