First Win of the New Year

City started very brightly taking the game to Cambridge and putting them under pressure however against the run of play Cambridge caught the clarets defence out with pace and went 1-0 up. However, as happens so many times in football within a minute the clarets went up the other end and drew level with a goal from Sam Little. The clarets were having the bulk of the ball but Cambridge were causing problems with their pace, in the 33rd minute the Cambridge winger lost his marker and fired the ball against the post with the clarets having a goal mouth scramble firing six shots in a very short period, the Cambridge goal keeper being the hero. Just before half time Jack Marlow set up Ronnie Edwards who hit home to see the clarets go in 2-1 at the break.
The second half see the clarets start in style, breaking from defence, Jack Nicholls crossed to Ronnie Edwards to get his brace and the teams third, 3-1. On 15 minutes Jack Marlow hit a thunderous shot in only to see the Cambridge keeper pull off another magnificent save. For the remainder of the half the clarets changed the tactics as it was obvious that Cambridge were out to attack and get back into the game, on 35 minutes they made it 3.2, but the clarets held out to get the first win of the new year with Charlie Webb breaking down the opposition in midfield on a regular basis and Elliott Warren having a good debut.
