Kelvedon Prove Too Strong For City

Date – 2nd October 2011

Kelvedon Hatch U10s  (3)

Chelmsford City U10s  (0)

The weather was going to play a big part in this game. A delayed afternoon kick off was not ideal in 30C but the show went on. Kelvedon kicked off and passed the ball well in the early stages down the wings. A long ball down the line found the Kelvedon attacker in the box, Kye Denyer in goal for City went to cover but somehow the ball slipped into the back of the net, 1-0 Kelvedon. City started to play in the midfield with Adam Sanders and Jakey Morgan connecting well and keeping the Kelvedon defence stretched but the final ball and shot was not happening. A goal from the Kelevedon keeper went to the left winger, he played it back and received the ball back well, and a high ball aimed in the City goal area again somehow ended up City goal, 2-0 to Kelvedon. The rest of the half City pushed for their first goal but this was leaving gaps in the defence. Within 15 mins Kelvedon were 3-0 up, a shot just inside the area found the back of the net.

The second half City did play up a level with Harrison Elles and Billy Hack chasing lost balls. Luke Ellul was now at the back with Max Norton and Ellul was winning everything from high balls to thru passes. Midway through the second half City had a penalty claim where Morgan passed three players and was tripped in the box, but the ref did not give it. Morgan came off through injury and was replaced by Elles up front. Taylor Stockton switched to centre midfield and worked his legs off in the high heat, but it was not going to be City’s day. Well done to Kelvedon for keeping a high tempo and always looking for more goals, back to the training ground for the Clarets!!
