City Roar Back from Defeat

Date --- 9th October 2011

Chelmsford City U10s    4

Perry Street U10s    0

On the back of a 3-0 defeat City was raring to kick off and they took no prisoners in the early stages of the game. Jakey Morgan up front was chasing every lost ball and winning all his tackles. The City defence Max Norton Steele and Luke Ellul were pressing high and closing down early as well. City had 5 or 6 chances within the first 5 mins and Perry Street was holding on. Taylor Stockton and Billy Hack were both linking well and playing some very clever passes through to Morgan. It was only a matter of time before the Clarets hit the net and only so much pressure Perry Street could take. It started from the back with Ellul, who passed to Harrison Elles down the left flank, Elles passed to Morgan who played a lovely ball to Kyran Rees. Rees shot and the ball rebounded and Morgan was there to poke the ball passed the Perry Street keeper.   City continued to play some great football switching from Adam Saunders on the left to Hack on the right, the second goal came from Rees. Elles received the ball from Norton Steele, Rees received the ball and shot early beating the keeper, 2-0 to City.

Perry Street came out in the second half and gave it a good crack. An opportunity in the first few minutes cut the City midfield in half and a one on one with the City keeper Kye Denyer, but it missed the post by a few inches. The clarets found their shape and form soon after and a third goal came from another bout of pressure from midfield. Morgan made a great tackle in the Perry Street half and found Sanders, he looked up and shot outside the area, GOAL!! 3-0 to City.  More pressure from City found Rees hitting the post and the bar and Stockton also close. The fourth goal came from the right. Stockton had a great second half and was causing all sorts of problems down the right side of midfield, it was only a matter of time before Stockton received his well-deserved goal. Ellul won the tackle at the back and passed to Stockton, he turned slipped passed the PS defenders and slotted home the fourth goal, 4-0 to City. Perry Street did not give up and managed to test Denyer in goal a couple more times, but it was to be City’s day today. Well done boys and great team effort!
