Saturday 10th September 2011, The Beveree, Kick-Off 3:00pm, Blue Square Bet South.
Clarets boss Glenn Pennyfather has reiterated the huge confidence his team have in their own ability heading into Saturday’s Blue Square Bet South encounter away at Hampton & Richmond Borough, kick-off 3:00pm, and he believes three points at the Beveree would give them the perfect boost to propel them up the league standings.
City lost out 3-2 at home to Dover Athletic last Saturday and currently sit in mid-table having played a game less that most of the teams around them. Pennyfather has an almost fully fit squad to select from as they travel to Middlesex and he wants to instil a winning habit into the side after their 3-1 friendly victory at Canvey Island on Wednesday night.
He said: “Looking at our results from a positive perspective we went into last Saturday’s match four games unbeaten. We’ve just got to add a bit of consistency to our game, consistency which hasn’t been shown by too many of the other clubs in the division either. If we win our game in hand that changes the way things look but we’ll keep focussing on the next game.”
Hampton sit bottom of the table having picked up just two points from their opening six games, those coming from draws with Farnborough and Basingstoke Town. They’re still adjusting to life after Alan Devonshire, their Manager of eight years who moved to Braintree Town in the summer, and are in the aftermath of a 4-2 defeat away at Salisbury City last week.
“They’ve altered their style a little since their change of management,” Glenn explained. “They were always a very direct side but there have been reports that they’re trying to play a bit more football now. We may have had difficulties beating them in the past but I don’t look too much into that - it’s just another tough match and we’ll go into it looking for three points.”
Fitness tests will be arranged ahead of the game for right-back Ben Nunn and striker Kezie Ibe who are just two of a group of players to have received some form of treatment over the past seven days. Midfielder Craig Parker is out long-term, with centre back Adam Tann still suffering from back trouble, while winger Anthony Cook has gone on loan to Canvey Island.
