Priory Lane, Kick-Off 3:00pm, Blue Square Bet South.

Clarets skipper David Rainford is available for selection by Chelmsford City Manager Glenn Pennyfather after his suspension, giving the squad a welcome boost ahead of this afternoon’s Blue Square Bet South fixture at Eastbourne Borough, kick-off 3:00pm at Priory Lane.

Rainford missed Saturday’s goalless draw against Dartford having picked-up a red card on the opening day, though he returns for the trip to East Sussex as City aim to push themselves into the top half. Borough were relegated from the Premier last season and Pennyfather, who will be without Adam Tann (back injury) and possibly Cliff Akurang (compassionate leave), is anticipating another difficult challenge.

“I always expect a tough game, but if our last away performance [a 3-2 win at Havant & Waterlooville] is anything to go by, we’re looking forward to it,” explained Glenn, who’ll also assess the pre-match fitness of defender Justin Miller. “They’ll be looking to bounce back after a reverse but we’ll be going there looking for the three points.”

Eastbourne have made a mixed start to the campaign having readjusted after relegation last season. The Sports were defeated 3-0 at promotion contenders Welling United on Saturday though this was preceded by an excellent 5-0 drubbing of Bromley at Priory Lane. In total, Garry Wilson’s side have started with two wins, two losses and a draw as they assume a mid-table position in the early standings.
