The Supporters’ Club are looking to do their bit to keep costs down during 2011/12 by assembling an enhanced pool of volunteer matchday stewards, ensuring the fans’ matchdays at Melbourne Stadium are also a safer and more enjoyable experience.
During a productive meeting at the clubhouse towards the end of June, it was suggested that the Supporters’ Club could assist in providing a greater stewarding presence to help ease the financial burden of employing professionals in this area, freeing-up valuable funds for other projects. Positive feedback was received, with those present keen to encourage fans to get more involved in their local club and ease the pressure on the present incumbents.
“More hands will certainly will reduce the individual workload,” explained committee member and fundraiser Jon Read. “The Supporters Club is looking for a number of volunteers willing to be added to a rota which will assist our current matchday stewards. This vital role will allow free entry to the game, but it’s about a lot more than that.”
“New stewards will be fully briefed as to the roles and responsibilities of their allocated duties on the day. It would be amazing if we could present a small but well-drilled unit ready to make themselves known to the club and it will be a big step towards spending City’s money more efficiently, hopefully providing an even better team for us all to cheer on!”
