City’s youthful team succumbed to a goal in each half against near neighbours Heybridge Swifts at Scraley Road. The hosts moved in front early in the game when a delivery towards the goalmouth created an easy opportunity for Swifts' grateful Chris Ribchester to tuck past goalkeeper Lewis Batchford from close range.

Another ball into the danger area just after the break crafted Heybridge’s second and the header which met it from Michael Marsh was classily directed out of the reach of Batchford into the corner of the net. The Clarets were unfortunate to be two goals behind but they pulled one back with seconds remaining, Tyrone Scarlett arriving to head home from six yards.
