City Fire Six in Emphatic Win

Chelmsford City Under 10 Clarets

Match Report – February 20th 2011

Chelmsford City  6     v    Hutton 0

The boys bounced back in style after recent setbacks with an emphatic win over determined opposition who kept on battling to the end. Despite the previous days rain the pitch was in good condition and the team were able to play a good standard of passing to open up the visitors.

City were on the attack from the beginning but clear chances were hard to create and the ones that came were kept out by an outstanding performance from the visitors keeper. The lead finally arrived from a corner as a goalmouth scramble saw Lewis Chapman force the ball over the line. At the other end Archie McClelland led the way breaking up attacks to set the boys away on the counter. The best move of the half saw Jacob Lodge set James Barry away and he broke down the wing and crossed from the byeline into the path of Tyrese Fairmaner who finished first time. Further attempts saw Barry hit the crossbar with Bradley Buscall putting his effort off the rebound over. The half ended with Harrison Woods unlucky to see his close range effort come off the post.

In the first part of the second half Hutton pushed on and the defence had to be on their toes as Woods, Lodge and McClelland thwarted attacks. When they did break through Harry Gooch was on hand to push their best effort around the post.

City then put the game beyond the visitors as Buscall set Fairmaner free and he ran in on goal before finishing coolly. Fairmaner then returned the favour to set Buscall up and he also finished emphatically. During this period the Hutton keeper produced a couple of outstanding saves when the ball seemed destined for the back of the net.

The game ended with Barry dribbling round a couple of players before finishing low into the corner and Fairmaner rounded it off with his hat-trick after being set up by Chapman.

A great performance, the team now have 3 games left to secure the points to see them clinch their second consecutive league win.
