Clarets out of the Cup

Chelmsford City Under 10 Clarets

Match Report – February 13th 2011

Galleywood 3     v    Chelmsford City2

This was expected to be a close quarter final and it didn’t disappoint it what turned out to be a pulsating game. The game started at a furious pace with both sides attacking and chances were created as both defences were put under pressure.

Early on Galleywood broke through the middle and a well placed effort gave Harry Gooch no chance. This stung City into action and James Barry broke from midfield to strike from distance which took a deflection leaving the keeper wrong footed.

Chelmsford now took the initiative and a fine move started by Archie McClelland who combined with Tyrese Fairmaner who was fouled 15 yards out. From the free kick Bradley Buscall hit a strong shot into the box which hit Harrison Woods on the back and into the net. This seemed to galvanise the home team who created a chance from distance and a fierce shot found its way into the net.

After that the game settled down and defences began to dominate with Jacob Lodge prominent in breaking up attacks and setting up counters. City had a number of well delivered corners which were well defended and the half ended with Galleywood hitting the outside of the post but Gooch looked to have it covered.

The second half was equally as exciting but chances were at a premium with a midfield battle developing. That was until a long ball found City outflanked and a cross into the box was smartly finished.

With 10mins left City through men forward and had a lot of pressure and Lewis Chapman moved upfront and made an impact. The game ended as Barry crossed from the byeline to find Chapman who scooped his effort into the grateful hands of the keeper.

A great cup tie and the boys were a little unlucky not to take it to extra time.
