Romford Royals v Chelmsford City Whites
Chelmsford looked a little rusty at the start of this cup game, after the long Christmas and New Year break. The Whites slowly picked up the momentum and went 1 up from Jacob B. Romfords heads seemed to drop and Chelmsford scored 2 more from Jacob B again and Jack Q, Romford seemed to wake up and scrored a goal on the counter, they started putting pressure on the Chelmsford goal, the Whites midfield dropped to reinforce the defence and they looked pretty solid, 2 more quick breaks by the Whites saw Jack Q run onto a through ball and chip the keeper and Matt B was released down the left and hit a sweet left foot shot into the top left side of the goal, Chelmsford went in 5-1 up at HT. The second half was much more even, with the Romford goalkeeper making good saves from shots from Regan M, Lewis E, Jacob B and Jack Q, in return Sam R in the Chelmsford goal made some fine saves to keep Romford out. The second half saw what I think was the goal of the match, starting with a ball from midfield up to Jacob B who laid it out wide for Lewis E, who managed to get to the by-line and put in a inch perfect low cross into the box right in the path of the advancing Jacob B, who slotted home confidently (one from the training field) Romford did score another consolation goal and the game ended 6-2 to Chelmsford, setting up a next round clash with Chelmsfords Clarets. The whole Whites team played some very good football today, WELL DONE BOYS!!!
