U9 Clarets win League!
Chelmsford City Under 9 Clarets
Match Report – May 9th 2010
Great Danes 0 v Chelmsford 8
CHAMPIONSHIP CONFIRMED
Earlier in the week it was confirmed that Chelmsford City U9s had won the league courtesy of their nearest rivals dropping points which meant the boys could not be caught. We asked the boys to put this to one side and concentrate on continuing their winning streak and end the season in style and we were not to be disappointed.
The boys put in one of their best first half performances of the season with some outstanding passing football to win their 16th consecutive league game.
Right from the outset they controlled the game as they ball broke to James Barry on the edge of the box and he then drilled home. Nathan Markham then fed Barry who slid Bradley Buscall through on goal and he finished low into the corner. The chances were coming thick and fast as another ball from Markham found Buscall who again coolly slotted home. The best goal of the game arrived as Harrison Woods brought the ball out of defence and fed Tyrese Fairmaner who played a one-two with Markham before setting up Ellis Casey to get his first which he very quickly followed up with his second following another flowing move. Markham then got the goal he deserved following more good work from Fairmaner.
The defence were largely untroubled but when called upon Jacob Lodge, Lewis Chapman and Archie McClelland read the game well to break up and start off attacks. At the break we made a number of changes and brought keeper Harry Gooch into defence in his first outfield start of the season.
The boys could not replicate the first half performance due to a lot of changes being made with people playing in unfamiliar positions and the Great Danes defence being more resolute. Two further goals were added as Barry played in Casey to complete his hat-trick and a rasping drive from Fairmaner concluded the goals with Woods also unlucky to score being denied by an outstanding save from the keeper.
A very satisfying display and a good way to kick off the celebrations at the end of the match. The boys have worked hard all season and fully deserve to win the league. That was their 14th clean sheet of the season and they have won 18 of 21 games with 2 draws and 1 defeat on the opening day. During the season they have score 73 goals and have let in a miserly 10 which is the best attacking and defensive record.
Lets hope we can repeat the performance in the final league match.
