Whitcomb inflicts misery on old team mates as Charle Knight is injured

Team: Senoir, Hayward, White, Fenton, Heapey, C Knight, A Knight, Harrison, Rickard, Rose, Edey, Subs Brown, Allen, G Harrison

As usual at Maldon the wind was blowing and with Chelmsford attacking against the wind Malon looked the brighter starters with an early attack on goal.

But gradually they matched Maldon and both teams started to create chances, Warren Harrison was unlucky when he was brought down in the area but despite appeals the ref let it go. He was also unlucky when Adam Knight lobbed a ball across the penalty area with his back to goal and Harrison just failed to connect

Aaron Senior had a great game again in goal with superb handing in difficult conditions and made one outstanding save to deny Maldon the opener, Despite this it looked as though one goal was going to settle it.

The second half saw Chelmsford have more possesion having the wind with them. Chelmsford started to domiante the game when Charlie Knight moved into central midfield and him and Jack Heapey started to win the midfield battle. Chelmsford won a series off free kicks and looked like the most likely to score with the clock ticking away. Disaster struck when Charlie Knight fell awkwardley on the touchline and suffered a suspected broken wrist. The game was delayed for 10 minutes while Charlie was attended to.

The game restarted and Chelmsford bringing on Rory Allen saw an attack down the right breakdown and Maldon broke and old boy Martin Whitcomb was played in and sent Maldon into the final with the ref seemingly not taking into account the injury time.

All the boys and parents wish Charlie a speedy recovery and he will be a big loss as the boys look to continue their cup form into the league.
