U9 Whites Through to Final 4 in Cup

UNDER 9’s KNOCKOUT CUP QUARTER FINAL

INTERSPORTS ‘A’ 1 v CHELMSFORD CITY ‘B’ 2

Chelmsford were welcomed by Intersports A to contest the Quarter Final of the Knockout Cup. City started in a positive mood and right from the kick off began attacking the Intersports goal. Finley Scott and Dan Harding worked hard up front to provide some fine crosses leading to a number of chances and within five minutes the pressure paid off and a strong drive from Noah Chilvers saw City take an early one goal advantage. Both teams continued to attack, but Toby Felton, Sam Rawlinson and Nana Owusu stuck to the game plan in defence, and a great save from the City keeper Marc Gos ensured City went into the break 1-0 up.

The second half started with some great passes from the City midfield of Oakley Bromfield and Andrew Munro, and with Jack Suttle’s work rate in midfield City continued to press for the second goal. Success followed within 10 minutes after another good move led to Oakley Bromfield scoring with a low shot past the outstretched goalkeeper. Intersports responded by putting pressure on the City goal and in the 35th minute won a corner which resulted in Intersports scoring with a looping header.  The last five minutes saw both teams continuing to look for further goals before the ref brought the game to an end. City now progress into the Semi Finals following this well deserved 2-1 win.
