Boys continue league winning streak
Chelmsford City Under 9 Clarets
Match Report – January 24th 2010
Chelmsford City 11 v Brentwood Sports 0
After 5 weeks of little training and no matches City opened their 2010 matches with the visit of Brentwood, both Graham and I were a little apprehensive after the layoff but we needn’t have had any worries. The team started on fire from the first minute and played some great passing goals, despite the margin of victory at no point did the boys diverge from their passing game and scored some quality goals.
The first goal was scored after 26 secs (thanks Mark) as Bradley Buscall burst past 2 defenders and struck a well placed shot which the keeper did well to get a hand to but was unable to prevent the goal. He then completed his hat-tick within 5mins with 2 well placed finishes following assists from James Barry and Tyrese Fairmaner. City maintained the pressure to half time and Buscall added a fourth before Barry dribbled his way past the defence before slotting past the advancing keeper.
At half time we asked the boys to keep passing and not get greedy and that’s exactly what they did. After a quiet 5mins the goals started to flow as Nathan Markham opened his account for the season with a well placed left foot finish. Buscall added his fifth before Harrsion Woods slid the ball home at the far post from a good cross. An underworked Lewis Chapman came out of goal and duly set up Fairmaner for the ninth. The goals were completed as Markham added his second and Buscall got his sixth!!
The away team were not without chances but with Jacob Lodge commanding at centre half and Archie McClelland and Ellis Casey patrolling the wings goal attempts were hard to come by. The best chance was well struck but sub keeper expertly tipped it over the bar to keep another clean sheet.
A great performance from the boys after a long layoff.
