With eight first teamers in the Bromley squad, a recent narrow loss in a five-goal thriller was a decent achievement for the Clarets’ second string on a drizzly, cold and windy evening at Hayes Lane. Despite going 3-0 down City, including new signing Marlon Patterson, showed spirit and, after a long spell of possession, Brad Hunter brilliantly evaded his marker and was brought down for a penalty. Substitute Junior Fatai Somuyiwa gladly stuck away the spot kick to get the visitors back in the game. Ryan Batchford pulled another back but Bob Batchford’s young Clarets had to put this contest down to experience, although they showed sufficient class to defeat AFC Hornchurch 3-0 in their previous test.
City: Lewis Batchford, Stuart Latimer, Ben Mason, Adam Reakes, Dan Elsey, Pearce Clarke, Ryan Batchford (C), Ricky Modeste, Marlon Patterson, Bradley Hunter, Tyrone Scarlett. Substitutes: Junior Fatai Somuyiwa, Joe Mayer, Brad Williams, Josh Brown.
