Season starts with defeat
Witham were playing their seond game of the season having gone down 1-0 at Biggleswade, and fielded a very stong side. City took the lead through Ricky Modeste after 11 minutes, but it didn't last long when Brad Stopher equalised from the penalty spot on 23 minutes.
Witham then went ahead six minutes later, former City player David Hawes. Bob Batchford's side got back in the game when Nicolas Muir equalised from the penalty spot and it looked as though City would get a deserved point.
However with just 10 minutes to go Niki Love scored with a superb header to give Witham a flattering win. Looking at the Witham Town line up they had 4 or 5 first teamers who had played in the previous league game so it was a good performance for the young city side.
Remember it is only a short journey up to Witham to see the Reserves in action - next up Billericay Town on September 23rd.
