Essex County Girls' Football League, Under 15 Division

Chelmsford City's new campaign got off to a flying start with this victory against a determined Copeland Colts side. Having gained a few players in the close season, a new look City side travelled to Stanford-Le-Hope fully intending to come home with all three points.

City started brightly with former Maldon Town players Rebecca Hinton, Molly Dubell and Christie Hasler linking well and testing the goal keeper in the opening minutes. The excellent work from City at the end of last season continued and Rebecca Hinton opened the scoring with a well placed shot. Having been somewhat harshly judged off side on several occasions, Christie Hasler doubled the lead late in the first half to put City 2-0 up at the break.

Copeland responded by changing their goalkeeper in the second half but it was to no avail as Molly Dubell scored City's third after some good work from Chloe Evans on the right.

City's swift passing and counter attacking was no match for the Copeland defence and Christie Hassler rounded off the scoring with an excellent lofted shot that found the top corner from  a difficult angle.

Every girl played fantastically and it was difficult to choose a player of the match. However, in the end left back Tayla Peel took the honours for her calm and solid display.
