Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal or football in general should keep Friday 30th March free in their diaries after confirmation that Chelmsford City FC will be staging a Sportsman’s Dinner at the clubhouse in the company of international football legends Pat Jennings and Martin Chivers.

Goalkeeper Jennings earned 119 caps for Northern Ireland, while almost the entirety of his club football was accounted for in his 477 appearances for Spurs and 237 for North London rivals Arsenal. Marksman Chivers, meanwhile, netted 13 goals during his 24 games for England, played 175 times for Southampton and featured in 278 matches for Spurs, scoring on around 250 occasions during his club football.

Both will share the anecdotes and experiences from their colourful careers during an evening of entertainment, with full ticket details expected shortly. In the meantime, romance is in the air as the club prepares for a Valentines Disco in aid of Helen Rollason Cancer Care and the Broomfield Hospital Chemotherapy Day Unit.

The clubhouse also plays host to this event on Saturday 11th February from 7:30pm until midnight and tickets (for adults only) are available for a price of just £10. Friends of City Expo: Members of the Friends of City networking programme can look forward to an extra special meeting this month as the scheduled gathering on Wednesday 18th January will include a full Expo from 12:00noon until 3:00pm, where businesses can exhibit their products and services.

Members or newcomers are asked to reserve their stands as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as there is a limited number of places. The costs will remain the same as last year - free for Friends of City members and £25 for everyone else. This is an excellent chance to launch a New Year Business Campaign at a fraction of the cost and inconvenience of a full, complicated advertising project elsewhere!
